Default Boot Mgr

I was dual booting XP and Vista each on their own partition. I have removed
Vista but the boot mgr/boot loader still comes up and asks XP or Vista. How
do I disable this so I start XP automatically?

I tried what was described he
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022

But when I type bootcfg /default /ID# replacing ID# with 1. I get invalid
command.
