Printing directly from Google Docs has the font screwed up
If, on either Linux or Windows, I print *directly* from Google Docs
to my HP laserjet, often the fonts are messed up, even though the document inside of Google Docs "looks" just fine. However, if I first *save* the Google Doc file to PDF, and *then* print from the PDF, the fonts are fine. Any idea how to "fix" Google Docs so fonts print like they show up? |

The fix is to make sure your system has got the fonts used in the document. By creating the pdf file, you are embedding the fonts in the document itself so they would print right but using the Google doc, the fonts are not embedded in the document itself (to make the files smaller). Do you know which fonts you are using in the document? If so, check that you have that font on your windows system. As Linux, forget about it; People don't waste time making fonts for Linux because there is no money to be made so you need to find a workaround by asking some jobless Linux junky hanging around on Windows 10 newsgroup. -- /*This post contains rich text (HTML). if you don't like it then you can kill-filter the poster without crying about it like a small baby so that you don't see this poster's posts ever again.*/ /*This message is best read in Mozilla Thunderbird as it uses 21st century technology.*/ |

Printing directly from Google Docs has the font screwed up
When I print to a PDF, for example, there is a button to set the PDF up.
In there it has a checkbox to use the doc fonts or system fonts. Does the driver for the HP have any such font adjustment capability or should you have purchased a better printer? (Sorry, but I spent my life around HP printers at work and would never buy one for myself). --- news://freenews.netfront.net/ - complaints: --- |

One of the possible options is to print in graphics mode instead of a more normal mode. Many of the HP lasers can use built in fonts. If they are one to one with the fonts used by Google Docs, Ok. But if not you may have to change the printer default font, or as i said, print in graphics mode. If you happen to be printing in a language other than English, that adds another variable. |

Printing from googledocs depends on which browser you are accessing with. If your browser is such as Firefox, google advises you to save/download the file in one of its formats; .docx, .odt, .rtf, .pdf, txt, or .html and open it with the appropriate app and print it. However, if your browser is such as Chrome, you can print it directly. https://support.google.com/docs/answer/143346?hl=en If you want a hard copy of Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides, you can print them directly from Chrome and using the mobile apps, or from a PDF using any other computer browser. -- Mike Easter |
