Hi, SVCD is MPEG-2. The MPEG-2 codec is *not* free. So Microsoft doesn't
give it away on thee servers. You must purchase a product that included it.
WMP uses whatever supported MPEG-2 decoder you have installed.

SVCD needs DVD codecs installed on the PC in order to play..... they are not
included in WMP because of licensing - ie you need to pay for them.

That's a lame excuse--that a given codec is proprietary and
thus not included. XP is full of licensed technology--the
CD-burning engine MS uses in XP isn't "free" either, for
example--it's licensed from Roxio.

You can take up the issue with the MPEG LA if you think it should be
included.

I didn't say I thought it should be included, you moron.
I just said that your excuse for it not being included
was lame. I now apologize for that--it wasn't lame, it
was stupid.
