Default WWW addresses - Internet Woes

I cannot get to any websites. I can get to IE but when I
input any www. address I receive the error that the server
cannot be found.

I was told by COMCAST support I had the worm and that my
WINSOCK files were corrupt?????? (I'm not sure I trust
Comcast support information.) I have checked for MSBLAST
both in searching my PC and in the Registry and I don't
believe I have the worm virus. I cannot find any data
related to MSBLAST.

If my problem is WINSOCK related, anyone know how to
rectify it? I'm desperate. Thanks!!!!
