hp deskjet 2180 all in one configuration error

I am running windows xp pro fully updated 2.09ghz processor, 512mb ram. i
have a hp deskjet2180 all in one and I have suddenly got the fpllowing
problem. when scan is finished I get an error box that states 'configuration
error- sizes file,unable to continue'. I have uninstalled all hp software
from add and remove programmes and reinstalled from installation cd.still
same problem. I have uninstalled from cd and downloaded driver and software
from hp website and still get same problem. I downloaded driver only from hp
website and attempted to install. I got fatal error, msi aio software cannot
continue. any help would be greatly appreciated
