Default Internet Options and Add Printer

Something has happened to my computer. Whenever I now try to go to Internet
Options in IE8, I get "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions
in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I am
logged on as the administrator. I have also lost the ability to print using
my networked printer. Whenever I click on "Add Printer", nothing happens.
Helppp!! (no I don't have Spybot)

Hi
What type of Internet connection you have and which hardware is involved
(Modem Router etc.)..
Are you logging as a Workgroup, or you are using Domain logon on work
computer while you are Not at work?
In general, http://www.ezlan.net/debug.html
Jack (MS, MVP-Networking).

Hi and thanks for the reply;
I have a DSL modem (supplied by the ISP) with a Trendnet TW100-S4W1CA wired
router. I have had the router for about 8 months. I'm not really sure what
you are asking in the second paragraph, but it is basically set up as a home
network. I left this computer on all night long last week, and the next
morning I had all these problems.
Thanks for any help you may provide
Tim

Hi
As a first step you have to check if the computer have a valid connection
to the Router.
Try to type the Router's local IP address to the Browser and see if it
connects to the Router menus (look at the Router's manual for specific
instruction). If you can not connect to the Router you have to check your
computer's network configuration as mentioned in the link that I put in my
first post..
