Way to store WinXpsp2 Update Files &Copy them.
Periodically I need to re-install Win XP eg new MBoard or whatever and have
to re-download the updates required. Using dial up it is a bit tedious. Can I just save the Updates already installed on to another Hard drive, CD etc and just copy them into the re-installed WinXP. I understand they exist in the Software Distribution folder in the Windows folder? Can I copy this folder into the re-installed winXP or must I re-download the Update Files? Thanks . |

Create a slipstream disk which will combine your WindowsXP and SP2 onto a
single disk for reinstallation when needed. Download Autostreamer 1.0.33 http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/S...streamer.shtml -- Some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug. If they are already installed, then no you can't extract them. For sp2 order the free CD from he http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...efault810.mspx For the post SP2 updates on the windows update site use use the custom install, then individually download the files and save to CD before installing them. Another option is to use the windows update catalog: HOW TO Download Windows Updates and Drivers from the Windows Update Catalog http://support.microsoft.com/?id=323166 -- Rock MS MVP Windows - Shell/User |
