Please explain in a bit more detail.
What does "xp is blocked" mean?
Are there any error messages (any at all - be very specific?)

Sorry, after installing service pack 3 I get the blue screen with a problem
has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your
computer,etc with stop
0x0000007e(90xc000001d,0xf78de8ea,0xf78de7f4,0xf78 de4f0)
After turning off the power and using f8 I get Windows Advanced Options Menu
I can try any mode even the safe mode and next is select operating system to
start I enter Windows XP Media Center Edition option and the we go back to
the before mentioned blue screen again. Every mode produces the same result.
What now
Dennis

canned
Continual reboots or can only boot into Safe Mode after installing WinXP
SP3?

See
http://msinfluentials.com/blogs/jesp...ng-xp-sp3.aspx
[NB: The above has been updated many times and now includes "a small tool
that will detect the IntelPPM problem and mitigate it before installing
(WinXP SP3)."]

Possible workaround: Boot into Safe Mode and rename INTELPMM.SYS to
INTELPMM.OLD.

Other references include:

• Error message after you upgrade a computer that uses a processor other
than an Intel processor to Windows XP Service Pack 2 or to Windows XP
Service Pack 3: "STOP: 0x0000007E":

0x0000007E [after installing WinXP SP3]

• Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Upgrade Utility for systems with AMD processors:
Go to www.hp.com | Search for "sp37394.exe" (w/out quotes) | Should take you
to this download page:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...reg_R1002_USEN

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and
e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada. Go to
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...spx?gprid=1173 | select Windows XP
| select Windows XP Service Pack 3

Sounds like HP computer/AMD cpu problem. Boot off WinXP CD, go into Recovery
Console, get to prompt and type"sc config intelppm start= disable"(no
quotes) hit enter and reboot. Only do this if you have a AMD processor. Greg
T
P.S. Make sure you put spaces in as they are there even after the = sign.
