Are there some steps to make Win7 "look" like Win98. I could do it with
WinXP so I hope there is a way to do it in Win7. My opinion is that Win7 is
not user friendly.

Thanks

Henry

You might be best served by simply continuing to run '98.

Wait, what?

You're trying to make Win 7 look like 98? Oh yeah, 98 was REAL
user-friendly. Seems to me more of a case of "I'm scared of change so I
want my computer to have the same interface it had 13 years ago!"

Win7 is VERY user-friendly. You just have to oh, learn the changes from
98 to 7... of which there are many! Not just changes but MASSIVE
improvements!

Not to mention that changing the way it *looks* doesn't really change
its user friendliness one way or another.

Take a look at Classic Shell, it may be what you're looking for.

http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/

I couldn't stomach Win7 w/o it...

User-friendliness is in the eye of the beholder. With any new system,
there's a "learning curve" and the unlearning of old habits that
presents a hurdle to old fogeys like me. Don't get me wrong -- I like
Windows 7 for its stability, reliability, support of new hardware,
etc. But the first thing I did was install Classic Shell, turn off
aero effects, change the desktop wallpaper to the Win 95/98 "Clouds"
pattern, change some of the desktop icons to their Win 98 equivalents,
etc., so that it has the familiar look and feel of a system I used for
10 years. This hybrid system is perfect, except that it lacks support
for my ALPS dry-ink dye sublimation printer and Nikon SCSI slide
scanner. For those tasks, I still have to keep my old Win 98SE
machine.

I use a launcher called "PopSel" and the Quick Launch almost exclusively.
There's nothing on my Desktop. When I do use the Start menu, I want it to
be quick and simple, and that *&%*! Win7 is anything but.

Why in the world would you want to do that?

My opinion is that Win7
is not user friendly.

Thanks

Henry

I disagree. Win 7 is much more user friendly than XP or 98.

Do you also drive a Model-T Ford? If you were to contract gonorrhea,
would you use the old "cure" of having your penis being bored by a drill
or would you use the new, real cure of antibiotics?

Would you like the gear stick of your new car to be up yer arse instead
of in the usual place you expect a gear lever to be?
