"Blaster" Worm advisory
Ladies/Gentlemen August 18,2003
I have just been advised that the "Patch" noted in Security Bulletin MS03-026 is "ready to be installed" in my computer. Please be advised that on 8/14/'03 I did install "Patch". I also enabled a "Firewall" pursuant to the instructions I received from your offices. The "Patch" I installed was: owsXP-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe. Also, per the instructions I received, I downloaded the Windows 32 bit version. I assume I do NOT have to install this again. If I am mistaken, please advise me. Also, please advise me in regard to installing the "Windows XP Service Pack 1 (Express)*. I shall have to beg, borrow or steal a 3.5" Floppy Disc and then figure out how to "initialize" it. It's been a long time since the Missionaries visited my village and taught this procedure to us.I want to thank you and everyone at Microsoft for the help and support that you gave to "we the benighted" out here in the general user population during "The Blaster Worm Crisis". I'm sure there were many hours of overtime put in in the last week or so. Thanks again for all your help, J.J. Liptock |

"Blaster" Worm advisory
thanks for being patient through this whole thing J.J. if you went through
all of those steps your PC should be protected but if you want to double check about the status of the security patches, go to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp and scan your system once again. I would also recommend that you have the latest version of your virus protection software installed on your system. I'd just like to point out that this is a Peer-to-Peer support group. Except for hosting the server, and Employees such as Tom volunteering their free time, Microsoft is not involved. Most of us here are users just like yourself. We just may have a bit more experience, or been herre long enough to pick some information through osmosis. David |
