Backup Failures
When trying to backup xp client to tape drive i receive the following errors.
I've tried two different tapes with no luck. Backup Status Operation: Backup Active backup destination: Travan Media name: "Media created 9/2/2008 at 4:33 PM" Backup (via shadow copy) of "C: " Backup set #1 on media #1 Backup description: "Set created 9/2/2008 at 4:34 PM" Media name: "Media created 9/2/2008 at 4:33 PM" Backup Type: Normal Backup started on 9/2/2008 at 4:39 PM. The requested media failed to mount. The operation was aborted. The operation was ended. Backup completed on 9/3/2008 at 8:17 AM. Directories: 4664 Files: 74453 Bytes: 9,991,258,365 Time: 15 hours, 38 minutes, and 16 seconds ---------------------- The operation did not successfully complete. ---------------------- |

I don't know if the backup program you are using allows for multiple tape backups or how it handles them. You might need a tape drive with more capacity, and speed. I back up about the same amount of data, about 10 GB, and it only takes about 2 1/2 hours. The other option is to use an external hard drive for the backup. This would probably be cheaper than upgrading the tape drive but the media is not as portable. |
