DNS and XP Pro
Greetings,
I have a W2K server and a XP Pro PC with static IP and DNS addresses. Logging into the server takes several minutes. MS has released a hotfix for this problem until SP2 is released for XP. However, I'm confused about DNS settings for the XP PC and server. Since XP needs DNS to find the server, do I add the W2K server's address to my DNS entries on the XP PC along with my ISPs addresses? The IPS DNS addresses have to go back on the server so I can get updates from the web. Will these addresses cause a problem with DNS on the server when my XP PC tries to find it? Not sure where to go with this. |

You XP client must be pointing to the DNS server that hosts your AD
namespace. "Keith" wrote in message ... Greetings, I have a W2K server and a XP Pro PC with static IP and DNS addresses. Logging into the server takes several minutes. Correct, the XP client should point to your DNS server for the AD domain and
the DNS server for the AD domain can be configured to forward to your ISP's DNS server for Internet host name resolution. -- Thanks, Marc Reynolds Microsoft Technical Support This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
