Default Cable not found

I'm trying to set up a network with two of my computers,
one running 98SE and the other running XPhome. The 98SE
has been attached to many LANs before and the settings are
still the same as usual.

When I try and connect the XPhome computer, it keeps
telling me that the cable isn't connected. It is.

Has anyone had a similar problem or does anyone know how
to combat this?

TIA.

When Windows says a cable isn't connected it could be anything from the NIC
to the hub (or switch) that isn't working properly. Try different cables and
NIC, and make sure the hub is switched on.

Hi,

This can also happen if XP doesn't like the drivers for
your network card. Did XP detect the network card and
install the drivers ? Does the manufacturer provide any XP
drivers ?

Regards,

Tim
