System shut down
About once or twice a day my system just switches itself off and reboots
which is very annoying. I have looked in Event Viewer and under the System heading seem to get this message just before every switch off: 'The NPVR recording service failed to start due to the following error - The system cannot find the file specified'. It then gives me a link to a Microsoft help file that I don't understand. Could anyone help please? Many thanks Andrew |

You can look in Control Panel Programs and Features and see if it's still installed. If it is, and you still want it, then you'll probably have to reinstall it in order to correct the error. If it is, and you don't want it, uninstall it. If it errors out while uninstalling, then you'll have to reinstall it, then uninstall it to get it gone correctly. If it's not installed, then you can use MSCONFIG to find out where the file/service is being called from, most likely a registry key. Then you can delete the key and be done with it. If it's a service, then press WinKey+R, type in services.msc and press Enter. Find the NPVR Recording Service and stop it if it's running, then double-click on it and Disable it. -- SC Tom |

I don't remember ever installing or using NextPVR but I guess I must have done somewhere along the line. I wasn't in Add/Remove Programs list but was in msconfig so I've done what you suggested and disabled it using services.msc. Hope that does the trick. Thanks again. Andrew |
