Unable to open Windows XP
How do I correct problem of not being able to open by normal mode to Desktop?
Pressing F8 will not even open Safe Mode. Have anti virus system PC-cilin. Ran scan every Monday, and did not reveal contamination. Security Center came on screen stating there are viruses, and trojans. |

Repair installation (in-place upgrade) might repair the damage enough for you to log in/clean up - but my recommendation is to format, install clean and this time use eSet NOD32 (antivirus only) and Malwarebytes (purchase both) for protection beyond the Windows Firewall being enabled (with no exceptions if plausible) and behind a NAT router. Don't want to spend the $80-$85 U.S.? Avira AntiVir (free) combined with weekly manual update/scans with MalwareBytes *might* keep you fairly clean. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

I assume you mean product recovery with disc(s)? Second of three computers now has contamination. Could not control so I performed product recovery internally. Lost all data in TouchSmart Vista. Did not improve. Would purchasing product recovery disc(s) perform a clean computer, eliminating all viruses?
