aol start up page
I downloaded the latest aim 6.0, and now when my computer boots up, the aol
home page does too. My home page is verizon, and when I click the "house" button on internet explorer, it goes to my home page. How do I stop having the aol home page start up every time? It didn't happen with the old one. thank you. |

Take your IE browser to the verison page you want as home. Then go to IE,
Tools menu, "Internet Options", General tab, and click the "Use Current" button. -- Was this post helpful to you? Then click the "Yes" button, below. Voting helps others who use the web interface. When I go to the internet option it does say that verizon is my home page.
This other thing comes up because I downloaded the latest version of instant messenger. It didn't have the aol page start up automatically before that. Thank you, Mark, for replying. "Mark L. Try in safe Mode and if you have a security software that can block you from changing the Home page go to the configuration Option and change that to allow you to change the Home page. In the S&D click on Tools IE Tweaks Miscellaneous Locks [ ] Lock IE Start Page Settings in front of the current user. uncheck this option or Ad-Ware working in Ad-watch can block you from editing the home page. Also you could have Spyware that blocking you from changing the Home page so scan for malwares. Here is the Registry editing: Open the RUN command and type regedit32.exe or regedit.exe and Click OK. In the registry Editor click on this KEY: [+] HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main. Look in the Right Pane/Window for Local Page Right click on it and select Modify. In the new window Input the Data C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm and click OK. Then Locate *Start Page* and there put the New Home page you want, Right Click on it and select Modify and in the Data: http://www.bbc.co.uk for Ex and click OK. The same on this KEY: [+] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main. Local Page change to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm. Start Page :http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/reddir.dll?prd={SUB_PRD}&clcid={SUB_CLSID}&pver={S UB_PVER}&ar=home click OK and Exit the Registry Editor change the home page on the IE Properties also and Reboot and see if the issue resolved. Try this from kelly: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Try the Home Page Lock and Unlock from here- line 63 1st column: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm I will scan this machine for malwares: For Malware download both these softwa http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-...e_personal.php http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D Does this user has a third party toolbar installed?. Note: Some Protection Software will block you from changing your Home page if they configured to block such an Attempt, so see what Protection software and go through the configuration to allow you tom change the home page to what you desire/need. If an Anti-Virus go to the Firewall and see the settings, also some Anti-Spyware by default has this feature enabled if installed to default configuration not customized by the user. HTH.
