Default cd/dvd driver problems

I have a compaq presario 5700t that I just recently upgraded to xp from 98. my problem is: the system does see the devices in device manager but with a yellow bang,in my computer the system does not report any of my cd or dvd rom drives, I try to reinstall
the drivers but does not solve problem, the drivers it uses are the ones recomended by xp. I have tried to find additional drivers but have had no luck. any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bob

Did you uninstall your earlier version of EZ CD Creator before
upgrading....?

Hi,

First, update the BIOS and chipset drivers from HP website for your compaq model.
Also download the latest XP drivers for your machine and save them to a floppy disk.

Secondly, perform a clean install of XP instead of upgrade. Backup your important data files first if they are not stored on other drives otherthan the C drive.
