Desktop and Windows Explorer will not refresh
I’m having a problem within WinXP Pro. The problem surrounds the Windows
Desktop and also occurs within Windows Explorer. It may be happening within other windows areas, but I’m not certain yet. Whenever I create a new folder or file on the Desktop or within Windows Explorer, I will not see it unless I manually press F5 key to refresh the screen. This also happens when I want to rename, move, or delete a file or folder. I will not see any changes unless I press the F5 key again. What I want is to have the automatic refresh back whenever I add, rename, move, or delete something in the Desktop and Windows Explorer. Or, in other words, undo whatever has done this. Thanks in advance. |

Since I do not know which one to trust, I will have to ignore the software solution that was presented to me and might have been able to help my situation. I will also be forced to ignore both of these posters from this point forward unless there are others that can provide proof of who is right. Apologies in advance to the person who is right. It's unfortunate for me and for the person that could be possibly telling me the truth. For the time being, I will still consider my problem unresolved and hoping for further responses. |

Thanks in advance. No, I never got an answer. I did post at couple of other places, but no helpful answers. I finally figured out how to take care it on my own, but it was a last resort measure. I found out the other accounts on my computer didn't have the same problem, so what I did was create myself another account on my machine. I transferred my documents, email, links, and other important files to my new account. When I felt that I had everything from my old account, I deleted it. I then changed my user name in my new account to the same one that I used in my old one. Evidently I had a corrupt or a bad setting of some sort in my registry. Technically, I didn't fix it. I just deleted it. |

Desktop and Windows Explorer will not refresh
I downloaded PCButts tool, and took a look at it before running it. It is just a batch file that re-registers the DLLs that already exist on your computer. Seemed pretty harmless. Ran it, and it fixed the problem, regardless of who originally wrote it. -- jpastin ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jpastin's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/jpastin.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-x...ort/978738.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
