"Bad" Product ID number
While trying to get into the support website, I gave MS my product ID number,
but steadfastly got this reply: "The product ID number you entered is not supported in the country that you have selected." I took the product number from My ComputerPropertiesGeneral Tab. It IS the correct product number, but MS won't help me until I give them a "valid" one. What can I do? |

"Bad" Product ID number
One posting would have been sufficient, however the correct number should be
available in the "Help - About" window. It should also be in a small file on the installation CD. It should be in the form of five groups of five mixed upper case and numbers. I would give you mine but it is a pirated version. Cheers, Peter. "Bainsey" wrote in message ... Peter;
The 5 groups of 5 characters is NOT the Product ID, that is the Product Key, the two are completely different. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/ "Peter K L Milnes" wrote in message ... "Bad" Product ID number
Why don't you post this, yet again?
Sorry for the multiple posts, folks. Each time I posted, I got an error message, so I figured better safe than sorry. As for the Product ID, I am not talking about the product key. The format is indeed correct, but MS insists that the number is invalid. I have called with this problem, but I'm told that the Product ID is invalid, and MS won't help me without a valid product ID. The actual problem I'm trying to call about is I installed XP Pro on the wrong PC, and I want to backtrack to XP Home and install XP Pro on the right PC. However, I cannot even address the problem without a "valid" product ID. I haven't registered XP Pro on the wrong PC, yet, as I want that registration on the right PC. Any thoughts are welcomed. |
