Default corrupt or missing systems files

hi guys,
am missing or have corrupted appstart.ani and hourglas.ani files when i
try to change scheme. where can i download or find files i need without
buying software to etract from recovery disk. does microsoft have free
downloads on its web site?
any help would be appreciated guys.

If youre missing windows files,then install xp cd,exit the info page,go to
run,type:cmd In cmd type:Sfc /Scannow When its thru type:CHKDSK C: /F
Agree to restart then type:EXIT Remove xp cd,restart computer.

Hi ulee

It's a bit difficult to understand what you're saying about buying
software. The files will be on your Windows XP disk if you have one. If
you only have a recovery disk, as you seem to say, and you can't get at
them, email me and I'll send them to you.
