Default Surely Off Win 10 Topic, IPad question

I am sure my question is not expected on this Win 10 site. Flaming
expected!! Still I was unable to locate, on my Newsgroup provider, a
site that responds to IPad questions. If my post offends other, my
apologies. It is not my typical past, a user for maybe 15 years, to
ever post Off Topic qyuestions!!

I have, what I expect to be a simple IPad question, though one I have
not resoloved after many Net searches.

When I use Safari, in the landscape mode, I have maybe 20% of the
vertical dispaly showing my History. I have no idea what/ how I
initiated that Unwanted display? How can I stop that history panel
from ever appearing??

Any (recognized off Win 10 support) would be most welcome. Surely this
is the wrong site, but one that I know many knowledgable tech people
follow

You couldn't have looked very hard.

comp.mac.ipad
comp.mobile.ipad

Then there are dozens of Mac groups. Apple
people tend to use Apple, even so asking in
a MacOS group is more appropriate than a
Windows group.

If Newsgroupdirect doesn't have those then you
need a new usenet server. AIOE and eternal-september
are both free.

Don't know if it is "forever" but touching the 'open book' icon at the
top left will close the 'history'. The left panel is just one of 3
column listings as in: bookmarks, view, history. The bottom of
the history panel has a "clear" to clear the history.

Looks like the side panel appears as a default & touching the open-book
icon closes the side panel. Any way I've loaded Firefox to avoid the
crappy Safari with all its limitations which follows the crapple
dogma in that the user is only allowed to do things the crapple way.

As an new ipad owner, I regret I bought the piece of junk even tho
it will mainly used for reading books. The ipad is implemented as
just a remote terminal to a mainframe/icloud. Saving stuff to the
ipad is done by the app & accessed by the app; only problem is
it may have been "saved" as 'cache memory' & shutting down the ipad
will clean the cache memory & one can lose the book being read. Little
things that the 'ios' group claim one should research & know about
before buying the ipad even if it is not disclosed in any review.
The "real" storage area is in the icloud & be prepared to pay crapple
monthly storage fees. I got notification that I had less than 25%
of free storage left after only 2-1/2 weeks of ownership & the only
thing in icloud was the backup after having upgraded to ios 11.1.1
on boot-up.

I had, previously, went to that site. As I rarely add New Groups, I
did not immediately notice that the displayed posts were shown Oldest
first. Thus I thought it was a Dead site, as the top shown post (now
know to be oldest) was in 2012. My error

Are you sure that iCloud is the only option to store local data for that
particular e-book reader app?

are there other apps for reading e-books? Kindle?
