Both have completely squandered any good will they might have once had by producing total crap for a decade. If they want to be accepted again, they'll have to totally reinvent themselves, starting with the company name. +1 A ditto from me as well. |

It's not so much an "elephant burial ground" as it is that many of us "old guys" are so old that we've been in the computer field for a long time, and are therefore here because we know enough about computers that we are often able to help others. For example, I'm 77, and I started working with computers professionally in 1962. |

G Keep in mind, it is your elders who invented digital computers, the Internet, Usenet, powered flight, space flight, etc....... When I say "Old Geezers" I mean that with the greatest respect. ;-) I've learned much thanks to Usenet (and it has improved my English, I think). It breaks my heart how Google has destroyed Deja News; it was a true goldmine of knowledge. I think your generation was responsible for inventing Facebook and reality TV........ ;-) Yes, I have a FB account, I've got a smartphone, but I think I missed out a bit on that generation. I guess I'm in the middle. Mother bought a Commodore 64 when I was 12yo. I used Windows 3.11, then switched to Performa 475, then Pentium I and from then on I stayed with Windows. Unlike my older brother (42yo) and sister (41yo) and don't have a single LP or single. My first CD ever was 'Violator' by Depeche Mode and it still works! That's /my/ generation. -- s|b |

G Drat! I was just about to say I must be the youngest at a mere 69-1/4. I don't get to claim that too often. I think I remember 40. -- Remember: It is To Laugh |

Anti-virus program?
Hi, Ken.
Yep, I'm still 79 - for 10 more days. Then I'll join those "Old Guys". The neat thing about it is that I'm still learning! ;) And I don't feel old, which surprises me. I tell my family that my troubles are all in my head: Eyes, Ears, Nose and Teeth. I've had my share of betas and previews, so I haven't even looked at Win10 previews. After I found how to boot Win 8.1 straight to the desktop, it has been my favorite Windows so far (and I had Win 1.x on my Tandy 2000 in about '83, after starting with the original TRS-80 in 1977), and I'm looking forward to Win10 on my Big Rig (AMD Phenom II X6 1090T) and my Aspire netbook. To return to the Subject of this thread: Since I gave up on Norton Internet Security about a decade ago, I've used nothing but the built-in anti-malware (MSE and now Defender), with an occasional boost from MBAM and SAS. Chances of getting any more replacements here is almost nil. Do we need to start a clock to see how long you guys have on this planet? Statistically 86 is the most males live and 88 for women. *Don Guillet* pass away last week according to the Excel Newsgroup I subscribe to. God knows how old was he but he wasn't young as far as we know as he was retired. |

And I don't feel old, which surprises me. I tell my family that my troubles are all in my head: Eyes, Ears, Nose and Teeth. LOL. Me too! Except for my nose and teeth; I have no problems there. I've had my share of betas and previews, so I haven't even looked at Win10 previews. Nor have I. I'll wait for RTM. Just a few more weeks. After I found how to boot Win 8.1 straight to the desktop, I've been running Start8 (I think it's great) almost since Windows 8 was first released, and I almost never look at the Modern/Metro interface, not even before 8.1 it has been my favorite Windows so far Same here!
