Office 2007 Word & Excel - disappearing Office menu
This is a new problem and has only existed for a few days. Office 2007
(32 bit) running on W7 Pro (32 bit). When I click on the Office icon, the usual menu appears - file menu and list of recent documents. BUT it then disappears after 1 or 2 seconds before I've had time to select a recent document to open or select (say) Save As . . in order to create a PDF file. It could possibly be associated with a load of security updates to Office 2007 which I installed on 2nd August, but my feeling is that it's more recent than that. Anyone else experienced this? Any clues about what to look for? TIA. -- Cheers, Roger ____________ Please reply to Newsgroup. Whilst email address is valid, it is seldom checked. |

Is it possible that your PC mouse is reporting a double click when you click only once? I had that happen because my mouse was failing. I had to buy a new mouse to correct the problem. -- David E. Ross http://www.rossde.com/ After the tragedy in Charlottesville, Virginia, President Trump issued an evasive, equivocating statement. This is quite understandable. After all, Trump did not want to alienate his core supporters, many of whom are white supremacists. Trump's staff tried to explain away his statement and put a positive light on it, but they were merely putting lipstick on a pig. Only after pressure from his own Republican party did Trump denounce the KKK, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists as criminals. His delay in backtracking his prior equivocation -- too little and too late -- makes me doubt his sincerity. |

ALT/F certainly brings up the Office (file) menu, but it disappears before I have time to select anything in it - just like when I click on the Office button instead. Not sure what you mean by "look in View". Do you mean 'View' in the ribbon, or 'Display' in Word Options from the Office menu (if I can get there in time!)? Set *what* to always display? -- Cheers, Roger ____________ Please reply to Newsgroup. Whilst email address is valid, it is seldom checked. |

I did wonder about that, because I'm using a wireless mouse which can sometimes be troublesome. However, I've just tried a wired mouse, and it's exactly the same. Similarly when I bring up the Office menu with ALT/F without using a mouse at all, the same thing happens. Any other ideas? -- Cheers, Roger ____________ Please reply to Newsgroup. Any clues about what to look for? I had a different issue on Office 10 a few years ago. In my case, clicking the File menu would cause the program to crash after about 2 seconds. I downloaded a tool from Microsoft called Office Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT) and let it do its scan. It said it made changes, but I don't remember it telling what the changes were. Anyway, everything worked after that. Since then I've upgraded to office 2013 and then 2016, but I assume the MS tool is still around. Are you sure you haven't minimized the ribbon? When you do, in Excel 2007 the ribbon auto-hides itself when you come back to the document.
