Hi all,

Running W7 Pro 64b. Today I tried to install a newer version of
Backup4all. The installer started, then there's the window with the
status bar of the installer. And there it stops. Nothing further happens
And I need to use the task manager to kill the installlation process.
I blamed the installer.
Later on I tried to install the newest version of LibreOffice.
Once again, the installer started, until the window with the
installation status bar came up. And here it stopped again. Nothing
further happens and I needed to use the task manager again.
Now I blamed my pc. What the hell is wrong with it?
Thanks beforehand.

Fokke

Hi guys,

This is really weird.
After I copied the installers (exe) from Backup4all and LibreOffice to
the desktop, everything installed fine.
They were on a different (internal) hard drive.
How can this be?

Files on your desktop get the same permissions as for your Windows
account. Files elsewhere get the permissions of the folder under which
they are stored.

Thanks.
Never realized this.
On my server (W7 Pro 32b) I need to copy almost all installation files
onto the desktop, as they won't run from a remote network location.
I guess here is the case.

"Streams" should have an option to check for the presence of an
alternate stream.

The stream that blocks is "Zone.Identifier", shown here.

There is some Powershell crap, to actually dump it to the screen.

I used the wong syntax.
On the Backup4all installation file, and the previous one, it says:
:Zone - Identifier:$Data 26

Makes any sense?

That's the byte count.

Now you'd need to use one of the other commands in
that article, to dump the actual 26 bytes and see
what Zone value is recorded. Whatever that byte count
means, it doesn't seem to match the length of the strings
dumped out later.

Powershell

get-content -Path C:\test.zip -Stream Zone.Identifier

And the answer should come back as a two line text file.

[ZoneTransfer]
ZoneId=5

That's the basic idea.

If the Path has spaces in the directory path, then
you can put double-quotes around it. That's what
I'd try anyway. I'm not an authority on Powershell
syntax, as it has its own quirks about input.

get-content -Path "C:\Spacey Path\test.zip" -Stream Zone.Identifier
