Blue screen on install, Dell XPS Gen 3 SATA XP Pro SP2
I've been trying to do a fresh install of XP for months now. I finally got
the diskette with the SATA RAID drivers on it, and get through the point where install asks you to press 'S' and finds and uses the SATA driver, when install tries to continue I get a blue screen saying that XP install has been stopped to protect my drive, it recommends to check the drive for virus and run chkdsk /f. I did a virus scan, and did run the full c: drive diagnostic tools then re-tried again only to loop at this same point. Sorry I didn't write the error number down, I can duplicate it if it is really necessary. I can still boot windows from the code on C:, run install with "upgrade" selected and it will install with the SATA drivers ok, but I want to select 'full install' instead of the upgrade one and that's where the problem originates from, not being able to complete a fresh install. Can anyone suggest why this is happening, and a possible way around this point of stopping? Billy |
