Default Windows Messenger 4.7.2005 Will Not Connect

Running Windows XP Home:I recently upgraded Windows Messenger through
Windows Update and now have version 4.7.2005. The previous version
worked fine. Now I get a "cannot connect to Internet message." I'm
connected via a wireless router (SMC Barricade, with default port
configuration), which I assume has something to do with the problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.
