Oh no, the sky is falling! : D Corrupt court known
for siding with patent trolls gives Apple a slap on
the wrist for doing nothing wrong.

You fangurls are really stupid. Apple screws you
without vaseline, and you bend over for more.

How do they do that: by making products that people want
and selling them at prices those people are willing to
pay?

Except they don't do that. They make LIMITED hardware at
exorbitant prices knowing that there are enough dumb people
out there willing to buy it as a fashion statement.

In your limited opinion...

$300 million is a drop in the bucket for a company
that takes in over $18 billion a quarter. Apple makes
enough money in profit to pay this fine in a couple
days. Big deal.

Especially in the light of they don't pay any taxes.

Bull****.

It's accurate. Apple's taxes are mostly paid elsewhere and
they've been avoiding giving the United States even a dime.
They went to court over it near and after Jobs' death and
Tim Cook was asked point-blank why Apple avoids paying
taxes in the United States. Try to pause your fanboyism
for a day to look it up.

Apple pays a HUGE amount in taxes, and they use legal means
to avoid paying more than they have to.

'It’s the third thing that’s so interesting though. About
this shifting of cash flows and tax debts through time. Last
year Apple made provisions for tax of $8.283 billion
(Provision for income taxes 8,283). Which was indeed 24.2%
of their profits declared in that year. Now, in this trading
year they’ve actually paid over $7.682 billion.'

Apple

pays a lot but also avoids paying a lot. To be fair, I would
probably do the same in their position since the United States
have taken it upon themselves to tax the crap out of
corporations to the extent that none of them want to do
business in your country anymore but it's still unethical for
an American company to do so.

Now let's see a cite for your claim.

Incorrect, and a dodge.

Your initial claim:

'They [Apple] went to court over it near and after Jobs' death and Tim
Cook was asked point-blank why Apple avoids paying taxes in the United
States.'

So.

1. They didn't go to court.

2. The European Commission is not a court.

3. Apple didn't go to them either.

4. The group that asked Tim Cook "point-blank" was not the European
Commission. It was a US sub-committee.

5. They didn't say that Apple avoids paying taxes in the US.

6. Apple DOES pay billions in taxes in the US.

You're just digging yourself a deeper and deeper hole, here.

Irrelevant, since
a) the EU is not a Common Law jurisdiction; and
b) the Commission can issue binding orders.

The closest analogue in Common Law countries would be a quasi-judicial
administrative law tribunal.

Ireland is trying to wiggle out of the binding order Apple's tax
obligations.

None of that makes "Slimer's" claims into truth.

What this boils down to is GREED. The EC/EU doesn't actually CARE about
this as a matter of principle: they care because they want the MONEY.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them dumb people but they are people
who like the Apple culture, prefer the ease of use right from the moment
they take the system out of the box and so forth.
And Apple support is number one by far.

People are willing to pay extra for that.
That being said, there is nothing magical about Apple hardware or
software for that matter with one exception and that is it is all
controlled tightly (although that seems to be fading a bit with the last
updates) so it tends to work well together.

As long as Apple isn't doing anything illegal, they would be doing their
shareholders a disservice if they were paying more taxes than legally
required.

The same goes for Trump BTW.
What kind of an idiot doesn't try to reduce his taxes LEGALLY by using
every line in the tax code to his advantage?

Every single one of us in USA does it every year.
Key word LEGALLY.

American tort law. He is noted as one of the most influential
American judges to have never served on the Supreme Court of the
United States.

The bad guys are sitting in the Irish parliament. For centuries Ireland
tried to convert from an agricultural country to a worthless
nonproductive banking nation at the EU's expense. And that plan was
paid by the EU twice, by direct funding and by a big loss of taxes due
to Ireland's irresponsibe tax dumping strategy, which allowed companies
to avoid payments on a large scale. On top of that, when in 2008 the
economic bubble burst, they once again held out their hands to be bailed
out by the EU and the IMF with additional multi-billion Euro benefits.

When will EU representatives recognize that it's time to end that farce,
time to make the spalpeens understand that solidarity has to be mutual.

Your claim was:

'They went to court over it near and after Jobs' death'

A congressional subcommittee hearing is not a court.

And yet Apple received a _court_ order.

Geez, stop being a retarded fanboy.

Whoops, I posted the wrong link there.

One, about what's going on in the United States by Apple:
http://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/14/tim-c...us-taxes-says-
no-repatriation-without-fair-rate.html
... they want a fair rate but:

- -tax-114817858.html

Turns out they weren't paying their fair share according to the _court_
.

apple, but rather it's part of the tax code itself and completely

also look up that apple isn't the only company to legally use the tax
code in that manner. google, microsoft, facebook, intel and others do
the same thing.

after that, look up that ireland is siding with apple, *not* the eu.

in other words, ireland doesn't want apple to pay and it's questionable
whether the eu has any say in the matter in the first place.

Again: how is Apple doing anything different than what anyone else does:
i.e. organizing its affairs to take advantage of the tax laws?

wrong. they pay every penny they're required to pay.

At the expense of US taxpayers.

google, microsoft, facebook, intel and many others use the same tax
code in the same way, but as is typical with haters, they get a free
pass.

The only haters here are Appholes like you. No one really cares about
google, microsoft, facebook, intel. Only you Appholes make it your lifes
work to defend an uncaring corporate entity. Something must be lacking in
your life. Buy another Apple toy, it might assuage your discontent.

they're doing the same thing plenty of other companies do, who all get
a free pass.

You may have heard about Google Inc.¹s restructuring last year, which
resulted in the technology company becoming a wholly owned subsidiary
of a new Delaware corporation called Alphabet Inc. What you may not
know is how this restructuring can help the company potentially avoid
millions in state taxes.
....
As of the end of 2015, Google had $58.3 billion in offshore
³permanently reinvested² profits on which it pays no U.S. taxes, up
from $47.4 billion in 2014.

i'm not defending anything.

i'm just pointing out how much of a hypocrite you and your ilk are.

apple is doing *nothing* illegal, and ireland is on *apple's* side,
appealing the eu decision.
