Default Windows 10 to be banned in Switzerland?

(from comp.misc)

Spotted in the Swiss newspaper "20 Minutes" today, a suggestion that
Windows 10 may be banned for contravening data protection laws.

Article in German:

http://www.20min.ch/digital/dossier/microsoft/story/-Windows-10-koennte-in-der-Schweiz-verboten-werden--10890387

And a not so detailed article elsewhere in English:

http://cubiclane.com/windows-10-microsofts-latest-operating-system-windows-10-under-scrutiny-in-switzerland-10365/

"If Microsoft does not review its privacy policy, Windows 10 could be
the subject of a recommendation prohibiting its purchase," posted on
his
twitter account the Federal Commissioner.

I have banned it from use in my domain and may in a few years stop using
MS completely, as I have Apple many years ago.

I am holding and deferring the free update in my desktop PC.
I tried the free upgrade in my notebook, NOT impressed!

Micro$oft can walk away by turning off support for old Windows versions,
right?

How do average countries fight that? Start a war?

What made you believe Apple is respecting your privacy?

Apple is a US company, under the big umbrella of US Amry. What gave you
the confidence?

If they do not watch it, this issue could be worse for MSFT than the large tiles in windows 8.

He didn't move TO Apple, he moved FROM Apple. He's saying that he's
considering remove MS products the way he removed Apple's products years
ago.

The whole product is under the control of Micro$oft. You need a LEGAL
way to intervent the operation of a private company like Micro$oft!

Presumably you have a lot to hide from the authorities, right?

For most of us, our life is pretty simple. Browse the net, do shopping,
check email, visit the Microsoft and Adobe Forums. Is there anything
for anybody to spy on me. It is all here in black on minty color.

I am looking forward to get Windows 10 when my new machines come from DELL.

Russia is doing something similar. Who knew Russia actually
has privacy laws?

When most users are getting free updates from previous versions of
Windows rather than purchasing it, that doesn't seem likely to achieve
much.

Having nothing to hide is not the issue.

Good for them. Apparently they don't like software with more holes
than they cheese.

Would you be OK with the police entering your home without a warrant?
That's not the first time your logic has been used.

Sir,

If you have nothing to hide, do you sent all your snail mail letters as
postcards? Or do you use envelopes?

The post office doesn't have a right to read my mail, simply because they
provide the service -- nor does Microsoft have a right to spy on my
computer, simply because they provide the operating system.

(Astute observers will recognize here Paul Zimmerman's argument for
strong encryption -- but privacy goes even beyond good encryption, it can
also apply to data collection and retention policies.)
