Did you actually mean that number because that is not the way we write in Europe!! Perhaps you meant to say: 48,023,514. If so then it is not that bad because I overstated the figure by 1,976,486 This difference is what might happen for this virus. We are expecting about 20,000 deaths in the UK and in the news it says our rate of people testing positive is 2nd highest after Spain. Even Italy, China and Iran have better figures percentage wise, but in total numbers they are ahead of everybody. Surprisingly, hot countries (apart from Iran) seems to be resistant to this. India has got only 4 deaths so far; Kazakhstan hasn't got any cases so far but it has taken draconian action to close down almost everything!! Nigeria has got only one case but experts think that they announced this to get help from the west. They didn't have any cases so far!!. We don't know anything about Australia or New Zealand but they have already taken steps to stop spreading. Angela Merkel is self-isolating herself because she met a doctor who has since been diagnosed as infected. -- With over 1.2 billion devices now running Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows. |

An extremely dangerous, completely misinformed, idiot. https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...s-in-australia " "It's interesting that [Covid-19] has spread all over the world quite quickly – both north and south" he said, adding that this suggested either the new virus was not dependent on temperature or that this dependency was not as important as the lack of immunity in the population that was helping it to spread. Does the coronavirus have a preferred temperature? Some studies that have not yet been peer-reviewed have tried to find out if there is a clear link between temperature and the rate of infection of the coronavirus, but have been inconclusive or contradictory. Dr Meru Sheel of the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health at Australian National University, says: "There is no clear evidence to suggest a relationship between outdoor temperatures and spread of coronaviruses." " Be aware, that if you're looking at a map of the world and you notice "oh, they only got one case", that this does not imply a weakness in the virus. To analyze the virus progress, you have to align the "origin time" of each growth graph, so they line up. A country which currently isn't showing a problem, will eventually have a problem. For example, an estimate is, we're "11 days behind Italy". That does not mean we're "exceptionally immune" or "a special kind of people", it means the Fedex with the virus was late in arriving. When the "shape" of the curve changes, that's progress! So far, the "growth" part of the curve, more or less matches Italy. Pure exponential function ? We're ****ed. And when you see that, it means our "effort" isn't good enough. A trial kicked off yesterday, for an off-list drug combo. The trial is tiny, and involves people already infected. Which means half of the participants will receive placebos (a "sugar pill"). This is a "learning trial" rather than a "safety trial", as they figure out what dose works, which day of infection does it work best/give best leverage. If we can get that working, when our medical system collapses, that will be a fallback. (No ventilators ? Take meds.) Paul |

No one has antibodies for this corona virus. The way Trump is mismanaging this, there will many more deaths in the USA than 50M. Fools like you will be the first to fall. The general thought that runs through my mind is this: Suppose it did come down to a choice of saving the economy or saving the population. What would TPTB do? (Hard to imagine the Orange One having the think for more than 2 seconds on that one) In fact, to put this in a story-telling context, suitable for the Hollywood treatment, imagine a devil-like entity making someone the following Faustian bargain: I will magically fix the stock market (put it back to 30K, and back on its normal high-powered upward trajectory) but 100 million Americans will die. What would a normal government official do? (We know, of course, what the Orange One would do, and how long it would take him to reach a conclusion). A couple of notes: 1) Having 100 millions Americans die would put the US back to its c. 1973 population. I.e., it would not take that long to build it back up. 2) Speaking of the Hollywood treatment, I've begun to wonder how much longer until we start to see Coronavirus in popular media (TV dramas, comedies, etc, movies, etc) -- Modern Conservative: Someone who can take time out from flashing her wedding ring around and bragging about her honeymoon to complain that a fellow secretary who keeps a picture of her girlfriend on her desk is "flauting her sexuality" and "forcing her lifestyle down our throats". |
