Default SP2 Problem

After I installed SP2 for Windows XP, I cannot print from LPT1 port. It
seems that the Spooler dose not work. If if you open the printer window you
can see that a line which shows spooling (in addition to the original line)
flashes. Furthermore, when I open the "Print and Fax" window from Control
Panel which is opened from openning My Computer, the Windows Explorer shuts
down atomatically (if the Control Panel is opened from Start button, the
"Printer and Fax" window can be opened. Is there anyone who can tell me how
I can fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

Default SP2 Problem

Thanks for your response. My printer is Epson LaserActon 1500. I tried both
Windows driver and Epson's driver and also HP LaserJet 4L driver (this is the
driver I have been using for many years.) Nothing works. I installed SP2
twice, same problem. I am now have SP1 installed, and everything is OK. So
I am thinking SP2 has a bug.

Check the printer manufacturer's web site for an updated driver.

It's not that SP2 has a bug, it means you need a driver that has been
updated for SP2. There is a difference.

Have you tried under SP2 going to the Device Manager and doing a rollback on
the driver?

It's not only printing problem, the whole Windows Explorer (Not IE) has
problem also. Actually, many old printers will not have new drivers just for
SP2. Microsoft should know that.

So progress should stop? It's not the job of MS to writer printer
drivers. That's for the printer manufacturer. They knew SP2 was coming
a long time ago. If there is no SP2 driver it's because the
manufacturer chooses not to support it. That's not MS's fault.
