event viewer errors 51,11 and 5

event errors 51,11 and 5

Default event viewer errors 51,11 and 5

we have sold a customer a PC running XP HOME now this is the 2nd PC we have
given them the 1st was replaced as it was getting similar errors

the PC would not go into windows i believe we did a repair to the
installation and it then booted again

we are getting the following event viewer errors under system

event error 11
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D.
Source DISK

event error 5
A parity error was detected on \Device\Ide\IdePort0.
source ATAPI

Event ID 51
An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.
Source DISK

all the errors happen over a space of 2 mins and in one set ther is 10 event
51 errors
8 error 11 Event id errors
and 1 erros 5 Event ID errors

theres is also on one day about 30 event id 51 erros

can you please help

the hard drive is 160gb SATA and is on a asus P5D2-MX this is a different
mainboard to the 1st pc

These errors are normally the result of a problem with the disk controller,
cable or hard drive. It would be highly unlikely that both motherboards would
result in the same error unless they both had the same controller and used
the same non-Microsoft driver. This leaves the drive or cable as being the
most likely suspect.

Have you tried using a different SATA cable and running "Chkdsk /r" to do a
full surface scan on the drive?
