desktop e-mail notice
Bruce ... Outlook Express has to be running before receiving notification
.... an icon will automatically appear in the notification tray. You select the interval for checking for new mail in OE's Tools, Options, General tab and select the time interval for checking mail in 'Check for new messages every xx minutes'. There are third party email notifiers out there that will check your email at designated intervals and notify you when new mail has arrived. The one I use is Magic Mail Monitor, free and available at http://www.geeba.org/magic/ It works independantly of OE and provides an unobtrusive blinking icon in the notification tray (or a desktop popup, if you wish) and can also provide audio notification using a .wav file (eg 'You've got Mail') ... but there are many others. -- HTH ...
