delete folder with "install shield" icon
How do I delete a folder with the icon of the windows install
shield? I made the mistake of installing chrome again & cannot delete the folder "application" that is prefixed with the install shield icon. Tried the command line for the administrator doing rd google /s; still didn't work. Tried the security properties which didn't work either as was still "required admin" access.. A reason not to use chrome for anything as google will leave traces to one's system. chrome doesn't have good web text management for my eyesight as there is very little white space between lines with the fonts of MY choice. The lack of enough white space between the lines make text hard to read as it does look like an ink blot. Firefox still does a better job of display. Leaving crap not deleteble on the computer is a very good reason not to install chrome. |

You can substitute %1 with "nasty_folder" and change the permissions from TrustedInstaller ownership to Administrator ownership. It's also possible to add a "TakeOwn" entry to the right-click context menu. Examine the posted registry files here, to see how it does that. http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...ndows-8-a.html Paul |

I've tried the old fashioned way via the properties security advance Didn't work as it looks like win8.1 removed the tab for "ownership" change; did see "audit" so maybe should have tried it. Checked a couple of deletable folders/files & didn't see anything about "ownership" changes. Quite unhappy about this as m$ has opened a way for hackers to have undeleteble virus/trojans/programs on any computer; especially if m$'s malware stuff cannot delete the programs. Have copied your response & documented it for future ref; also will be including it on the contex menu since ownership is no longer available from the security area. |
