Default Deleted "My Received Files" Items

I just opened "My Received Files" to look for a file that was previously
transferred through MSN, but all of the files were gone! Does Windows
automatically delete the files once it reaches a maximum limit, and can I get
the information back?

In MSN goto Tools - Options - File Transfer
Check the path that received files are going to is the one you are
expecting.

Messenger doesn't have any automatic mechanism to delete these files.

No, my MSN has that already setup to go into "My Received Files"
I can still receive files perfectly fine, and was able to before, too. All
of the sudden it just disappeared.
Right now I have 2 ideas - it might have been deleted by the computer (does
it have a setting to clean up C: Drive occasionally?), or it may have been a
virus (however, when I ran a virus scan, nothing showed up).

Thank you.

The built in Disk Cleanup does remove files but you have to tell it to
delete stuff.
And I don't believe it ever cleans up anything inside My Documents.

And it does nothing on its own. It must be told by the user to do it.
