Move Win 7 games to Win 8 ? How?
I'd like to move a copy of Win 7 games (card games, Mahjong, chess,
etc) to a Win 8 machine (both are 64 bit ). Each of the games comes with a file "en-us". The card games use cards.dll and each of the others has a unique dll.) I collect all the files for each, in separate folders. The play fine from a thumb drive on their home computer. But none will run on the Win 8 machine. Any ideas? Something I'm overlooking? |

I had heard that the patcher I used was banned by Microsoft, but that might just be propaganda. http://www.eightforums.com/gaming/57...-versions.html I can tell you if you have a hex editor, I did a diff on the before and after and the patches to the programs are rather simple. If you wish I can post them? |

Move Win 7 games to Win 8 ? How?
This is mostly off-topic, but speaking of solitaire...
My 8" tablet is perfect for solitaire. Brainium Studios makes an excellent version for Android and apparently now it's free. |

See http://www.howtogeek.com/122145/what...-in-windows-8/ There is a trick in using the MS Solitaire game for Windows 8 from the MS Store. Like many other MS products from MS Windows 8 it must check in before you can play. I have found if I turn off the internet on my laptop before I start the game, it saves a lot of time during the start up. |

If you wish I can post them? I used the link I posted to download and test. Worked ok on my Win8 installation. (No other testing done.) I will more than likely uninstall it as the /only/ game I play on occasion is the old 16 bit version of Tetris |

If memory serves, you copy the Microsoft Games folder from a Win 7 machine, and you copy cardgames.dll to System32 |

This worked for me: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/33214-How-to-use-Microsoft-Games-from-Windows-7-in-Windows-8 The link for the game patcher also works (easier than a hex editor). And the method also works for Win10TP, if you're so inclined :-) -- SC Tom |
