Default Send video to non-primary monitor

I have my tv connected to the video out of my nvidia ti 4200, and have
noticed that video such as .avis and DVDs only shows up on the tv screen if
the TV is set as the primary display in the control panel. This is annoying
because it forces me to use my 18" lcd in a resolution equal to or less than
1024x768. Is there any way to use my monitor at 1280x1024 and see video on
my TV, without having to switch the primary display back and forth all the
time?

Thanks.
