Where can one find the executable file for this program in Windows XP ???
When I right-click a graphic and select "Open With" it is listed, but I
cannot find the actual file.

TIA,
Sam Hagen

The following command should launch a blank Windows
Picture And Fax Viewer screen. It will say: No Preview Available.

rundll32.exe c:\windows\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscre en

Also found way back in its description for Windows ME under:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272969

Its a method (function) inside the DLL file. You use rundll32.exe to
call (run) those methods by their entry point (export) name.

And there's Ifranview, XnView, Zoner Photo Studio Free, and lots of
other free file viewers. I used to have both IrfanView and XnView but
eventually removed XnView (but it's been too long to remember why I
preferred IrfanView). A Gizmo review of some of them is he

Looks like the OP was focusing on the viewer already included in Windows
rather than having to install more software. The 3rd party solutions
are more potent yet some users want simplicity over features they don't
want or probably won't use. You could use GIMP as an image viewer but
that's excessive when you want just a small & fast viewer.

The OP didn't state for what purpose, personal or business, he wants a
file viewer. For personal or educational (student) use, Faststone Image
Viewer is free. For non-personal and non-educational. See:

http://www.faststone.org/order.htm

The same limitations for use of IrfanView and XnView. Never used Zoner
stuff so I can't comment on their licensing.
