Stop the dialing!
Nice try but---Nope!
It is not a dialer such as you describe. It is The Windows component called The Network Wizard. It is simply using its default settings. I want to change those defaults. It is probably not possible but I can Hope! Thanks anyway, have a good day! DY -----Original Message----- "DocYoungwoolfie" skrev i melding ... This is actually an edited repost of one from three weeks ago. This happens whenever I add or change a Network Place. Some other times too but I don't remember when. XP's Network Wizard always starts to dial my connection and I have to click cancel to stop it (in the dial-up connection dialog box.) - I DO NOT ADD INTERNET SITES TO MY NETWORK PLACES. That is what "FAVORITES" is for (IMO). I can understand why this MIGHT be desirable in a business environment but, I Am Not A Business Environment. ;=} - Then, when I click Cancel to stop the connection, it ALWAYS DESELECTS "Logon Automatically." I have to reselect the box the next time I DO want to connect. What I want to do is: 1.) Make the Network Wizard start out with LOCAL Places before trying the internet, or at least ASK Whether I Want to go online or not. ================================================== ======== OR - and #2 may be easier; possibly a Registry tweak but, I have no idea where to even start looking in there! I looked through "Kelly's" tweaks and stuff but didn't find what I need for this. Maybe it is there but I couldn't find it! ================================================== ======== 2.) STOP the DESELECTING of "Logon Automatically." - Just because I don't want to connect ONE TIME does NOT mean I don't want to connect automatically the NEXT time. Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks, DY Win XP Pro SP-1 (FULLY updated) Internet Explorer 6 SP-1 MS Office XP Professional (2002) (FULLY updated) Network: 2 PCs (I am the ONLY PERSON that uses both of them) ICS (dial-up) XP (host) and ME (client) OutPost Pro (XP) and ZoneAlarm Pro (ME) You have probably downloaded and installed one of the famous "Dialers" from internet somewhere. They pop up in a lot of netsites (most at porn or warez). The mission to those, is to call a expensive internetprovider in a foreign country, to rip people off for money... . |
