Default Changing or removing shortcut arrow

Hi Dennis,

I have modified the edit. You can either re-download it or make the changes
manually. To do so, change IsShortcut to just Shortcut in both:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile]

As per your question, I must not be following you:

To change the text, simply rename.

To rid of the text: Choose Rename, hold down the ALT key and type 0160 from
the keypad.

To change the text color: (this is very limited) - By default in XP, it
can't be manually changed. The text changes on its own from dark to light
depending on the color of the background. It is based on the Desktop color
not the Wallpaper. The combo is whether or not you are using a Wallpaper
and what the Desktop color is.

I tried your methods for changing/removing/restoring the
shortcut arrow. The only reliable method which works for
me is deleting the 'IsShortcut' from lnkfile. None of the
other things work. On another subject, is there a simple
way to change the desktop icon title text? I can do it
with Activicons (if the drop shadow is turned off), but I
don't want all the extra baggage (and sluggishness) of
Activicons slowing me down. Thanks, Dennis.
