USB device not recognized
My computer has 4 USB ports, 2 in front and 2 in back.
Only the ports in back operate properly. When a device is moved from a back port to the front, it is not recognized. This problem has persisted for over a year and Knowledge Base doesn't appear to describe a solution. I installed a 4 port hub to a rear port and it is working just fine. |

Talked with service for the maker of the PC, or with a competent technician. The ports may not now be physically connected. -- For most XP answers and tweaks... http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm http://dougknox.com http://aumha.org http://support.microsoft.com |

It's quite possible that those ports aren't connected to anything on the motherboard, or that those ports on the motherboard have failed. |

There are a lot of cases that have the front ports but nowhere to connect them to the mainboard. Especially integrated boards. |
