Default Windows error likely caused by computer virus-Need help

windows said the error was likely caused by a computer known by the following
names:
Win32/Apropos.B
WinNT/Zufyx.A
Spyware.Apropos.C
Trojan.Win32.Crypt.t

Windows suggests that in safe mode Iinstall the Protection Scan but my
question is this I have Mcafee Security Center will this be compatable if I
do what windows has suggested.
I really would like to get rid a this virus - please help

I really don't know what you mean by "windows suggests". To get rid of
the Apropos cr*p, start with this:

AproposFix - http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14679793
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/aproposfix.exe

And here are other general malware removal steps to go through
systematically:

I am a total novice so is there anyway to tell me what to do to get rid of this virus step by step, what about the mcafee -should I disable it while I am getting rid of the virus ?

Also you are saying not to use the windows solution , they say in safe mode
to scan my computer then follow directions for removal of the virus .
I would really appreciate any help you can give me

Once again, I tell you that I don't understand what you mean by "windows
solution" so I certainly am not telling you anything about it one way
or the other. I gave you links to help. Follow them or if they seem too
difficult, take the machine to a professional computer repair shop.
There is no shame in doing this; we all have our areas of expertise.

For your convenience, here are the links I previously gave you, as well
as links to help you make good newsgroup posts:

I will tell you what I mean by windows solution - they tell me while I am in safe mode to click the protection icon then click scan, launch scanner then follow instructions for removal of the virus .this is what I meant when iI wrote windows solution sorry if I wasn't clear.

But no matter how I get rid of this virus do I disable Mcafee while I am
doing this - do you know or should I just disable it anyway to be safe.
