Default What happened to all the MSVP's and good help?

I remember years ago, before we had XP, I would come the Microsoft
newsgroups and get all sorts of great information on problems or Windows
issues. The people really knew their stuff.

But, now, I have posted many times that I have upgraded to XP and I either
received no replies or the *few* that I got never rectified anything . I
have yet to resolve any of XP issues from these XP newsgroups. What a
SHAME!

Where did all the good help go??

The MVP's do a great job posting help all the time.

I took a look at your last question

**? MSVP's or anyone - IE6 and unable to display graphic boxes**
-you say you have installed and uninstalled SP2. SP2 is not out for
Internet Explorer or Windows XP, that could be part of your problem.

You many also try deleting your temporary internet files. also set IE to
always downloaded the page and not use tempory internet files.

There are over 1000+ posts to this NG every day. People get busy, and those
that aren't, perhaps are guessing in order to be of some help. Everybody is
trying.

BTW. What problems have you and I will try my best?

PS One question at a time please.

MVPs are still around, and there are a good number of them posting to
the WindowsXP newsgroups.

Not all of the MVPs indicate this in their signatures - it is entirely
optional.

I see one recent question from you that did not get a resolution.
Perhaps if you posted that one to an Internet Explorer newsgroup you
would have a better chance of getting the response you need.

Good luck

There are many, many posts with the same questions coming back again &
again.
No wonder that even the most helpful people start ignoring them after some
time.
People should at least do some reading before to post their question as if
they are the only ones on earth with this problem.
I do find most of the answers to my questions by reading the news group and
by visiting the extremely useful web sites of the MVPs.

In actual fact, Sam is still responding to one of their original posts sent
in on the 9th of this month! Don't know why they bothered to re post if
they're going to ignore it.

Why don't you try to find your oen answers before posting? And stop
complaining, people answering questions here don't get paid for it you know,
it's entirely voluntary. Maybe you should remember that.

Hey the advice is free. Perhaps your problems are not clearly stated, are
posted to the wrong Newsgroup, or the same problem has been posted by many
others and answered so many times that everyone expects you to search it
down yourself. They ain't but so much time in a day. Sometimes problems can
result from multiple causes that sometimes are not obvious to anybody. I am
not an expert nor MVP but when I can I try to assist anyone. That is about
the best you can expect from all.

An MVP I ain't. However, if I read a heading, than the message, I'll reply
if:
1) I know or can determine the answer, and
2) if others have not already answered it.

I average five hours a day on here; half the time is devoted to these xp
groups. I enjoy it but time is limited--for all of us. Look at the
websites others have up. Kellys Korner is a treasure trove. I have not had
the time to really look at the others.

Finally, don't give up. We all honestly hope you find answers and strive to
provide them.

I appreciate your efforts. It's unfair to leave the most of the
responsibility to you.
Looks like most everyone else left or is focussing on the other operating
systems. Perhaps that says something about XP? Hmm.

What happened to newsgroup posters responding to replies (let alone being
able to find their way back to their posts)? Many knowledgeable posters
here have been discouraged by answering the same questions over and over
again with no feedback whatsoever, and by initial posts lacking the basic
information needed to even begin trying to help.

Help us help you. Read previous posts (and replies) and make a good post to
an appropriate newsgroup:

Don't be a dumb ass. The only reason "I" am posting because none of the
reported fixes using Google and Google Groups have worked. Not everyone is
lazy. Maybe you should remember that.

You could be right . Perhaps I should've posted in the IE 6 newsgroup.
However, I have only seen this issue with Windows XP while my Windows 98
partition has absolutely no problem whatsover. I repaired XP and reinstalled
with no effect. Hence, I posted my question here.

I recall years ago these MS groups had thousands of posts as well, but the
MSVP's or others would respond much more readily. Now, I look at the number
of replies and suggestions and it is definitely less compared to several
years ago.

If I wasn't clear in my previous post- on many web pages, the small gifs or
graphics don't appear. A small placeholder is all that shows or an X. Only
when I right click, show image does it appear and subsequenty those
underneath. A good example, but [not limited] to is the following web site
(scroll to the news area):

Right, but does the poster have to write in detail everything that he has
done to try to resolve this issue? Or would it be easier for all to have a
suggestion be posted? I think if you look at my original post, you could
decipher that I am not a novice user or maybe you couldn't?

Isn't it safe to assume that in a medium such as this, that there will be
duplicate requests for the same problems and that's the "nature of the
beast". In my case, I have looked back and tried to find a fix, but nothing
has worked. So, again, I post.

FWIW, I have posted comments like "do a search on google, the answer lies
there". I think that would be courteous and fair, don't you?
