Jonathan, Opening the ports in the firewall.
Hi Jonathan, My son is setting up a new "XP Home" computer; he wants to use
the XP Firewall and Windows Messenger Voice so he has opened 13 of the 14 ports mentioned in your webpage. However Port 3389 gives the message "The port number is already used by another entry. Please enter a unique port number". Can you give any advice? Derek Nicholson |

Jonathan, Opening the ports in the firewall.
Greetings Derek,
All those ports (including 3389) can be ignored except 6891-6900 (for file transfer), none of those ports have anything to do with voice conversations (Windows Messenger will automatically open the required ports for voice conversations in the firewall automatically). ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "Derek Nicholson" wrote in message ...
