"WMS IDLE Not Responding" when logging off or shutting down
Hello,
I have Windows XP Home edition with two users. I had "Use Fast User Switching" enabled and started having problems switching from one user to the other. Now whenever I log off or shut down, I get a "WMS IDLE Not Responding" and I have to click "End Program every time". I disabled the switching option and it still persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

That did not work. When I tried to load the patch, I got the following error:
The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch. I do not have Microsoft Communicator 2005 on my PC. WORKAROUND To work around this problem, follow these steps: 1. Exit all programs that are running. 2. Right-click the Communicator 2005 icon in the notification area. 3. Click Exit. There is no Communicator 2005 icon that I can see. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Do you have Norton/Symantec AV software installed?

Is Outlook running when you try to shutdown the computer? Look in the
Task Manager's running processes to verify this. Outlook is notorious for that, it can keep on running even after you exit and close the application. John Cal wrote: Nope.... did not help. "WMS IDLE Not Responding" when logging off or shutting down
I found that going to MSCONFIG and removing NMBgMonitor (which is a Nero Essentials component) from Startup, removed the WMS Idle failing to quit. More importantly removing that Nero file from startup, allowed Windows XP to shutdown ten times faster. I have removed Nero from my computer and it runs perfectly now. Perhaps only a corrupted file, who knows, but bye bye WMS Idle. -- Remco ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Remco's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=26151 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=702909 http://forums.techarena.in |

"WMS IDLE Not Responding" when logging off or shutting down
I had the same problem and had Microsoft working on it to no real avail. To make a long story short I searched for WMS Idle and came up with this site and followed a thread when I saw the bgmonitor(?) and realised I had that on my machine I removed it and to quote the person with the problem "BYE BYE WMS IDLE". Now being a bit of a computer gimp I do not know what nero does but think it is something to do with my DVD writer. If I delete that what should/could I replace it with or don't I need it at all. It may be a silly question but my knowledge is very limited. I will also post this elsewhere in case this thread is closed so don't be offended. -- Warwick ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Warwick's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=28482 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=702909 http://forums.techarena.in |

I just started having that problem with wms, right after I installed a new sony dvd writer. So I have the same question, how will removing nmbgmonitor affect the writting process? Any idea? "WMS IDLE Not Responding" when logging off or shutting down
Removing nmbgmonitor from startup does not affect any programs in six months of use including DVD/CD writing. It is a program that remained after I had uninstalled Nero Essentials. -- Remco ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Remco's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=26151 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=702909 http://forums.techarena.in |
