NTLDR Is Missing" Error Message When You Upgrade or Install Windows XP Over Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Millennium Edition http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;314057 Creating a Boot Disk for an NTFS or FAT Partition http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;311073 -- Mary Sauer MS MVP http://dgl.microsoft.com/ http://mvps.org/msauer/ "J Noon" wrote in message ... Attempted to install XP Home Edition for PCs without windows on new computer, {BYO}. After XP recognized the hardware and partioned the hard drive and while loading files the installation stoped and left the message "NTLDR is missing - press ctrl+alt+delete to restart." I tried this a dozen times and the same message keeps coming back. Where do I go from here? In addition, how do you get the PID when you do not have the software on you hard drive yet? Is it on the packaging anywhere? Do I have to clear the hard drive of the existing XP data or will it start where it stopped once the problem is corrected. What is NTLDR? HELP! |
