How to disable connections to accounts.firefox.com ?
Hello all,
/Every time/ I start FireFox 52 it (tries to) connect to "accounts.firefox.com". As far as I know I've never created an account, so there is zero reason for it to even go there. What setting does FF have (and where) by which I can switch this "lets try to connect" off (apart from malforming all of those "accounts.firefox.com" entries in about:config that is - and hoping that that is enough). Bonus question: How can I apply this "don't do that!" setting as a default for all future accounts. Regards, Rudy Wieser |

Whether that will speed things up, slow things down, or have no effect, depends on what Firefox tries to _do_ with the connection. (You're sure it's not just the check-for-updates, or bookmark [and other] syncing function, both of which can be turned off fairly easily? [Well, check for updates can; I've never turned sync on, so don't know how easy it is to turn off.]) -- J. P. Gilliver. How to disable connections to accounts.firefox.com ?
JJ, John,
/Every time/ I start FireFox 52 it (tries to) connect to "accounts.firefox.com". I'm embarrassed, it turns out to be my own fault. :-| I've already been redirecting a number of domains FF wants to call back to to "no place like home", and recently whipped up some /very/ simple code to accept the (redirected) SSL requests and display the target domain name. The problem is that, for debugging, I first parsed a static block of data which I had stored in the program itself. When I than moved the function over I forgot to disable this testdata. Hence that domain got displayed every time, even when fully different ones ("location.services.mozilla.com" and "tiles.services.mozilla.com") where requested. tl;dr: "accounts.firefox.com" isn't a new problem. The other two are, but are old (and have not been able to find a solution for in regard to using FF own settings either). Regards, Rudy Wieser |
