Default "load needed DLLs for kernel" after memory upgrade

My XP worked fine until I tried to add more memory. After installing the
chips, got "load needed DLLs for kernel" message. After removing additional
memory, XP started fine. From BIOS screen the additional memory appears to
be recognized, and it worked fine in the friend's computer until last week. I
am pretty positive that it is compatible with my computer.
All postings on "load needed DLLs for kernel" I could find suggest to the
repair install. Two questions:
1) why would "load needed DLLs for kernel" error appear after RAM upgrade?
2) any way to fix this other than to try repair install?
Thnx

How much memory are you adding?

If you're going over the magic 4GB limit then I think
Windows probably needs to be reinstalled to work correctly
(there's some magic that has to go on to use that much
RAM).

Other than that you can try to use this RAM tester. It
doesn't run in Windows...
