1903 confuses thermal controls
So far, I haven't found any real problems with 1903 except
one. If the machine wakes from Sleep, the fans all rev up to max but then stay set that way until I reboot. This does NOT happen if the machine emerges from hibernation mode. Has anybody else seen this behavior? |

In article , says... Any BIOS (or BMC) upgrades available for the machine? Unfortunately, no. The machine is an antique. What software runs your fans ? There is a BIOS version of fan auto control. It programs the fans at startup. It is the responsibility of the BIOS to restore those registers, when the system comes up from hibernation. It's possible the CPU could use CoreTemp to control a PWM signal. But then it might not be controlling all the fans (like a cabinet cooling fan), as it wouldn't know how to measure the cabinet temperature. Even if you were to use Speedfan, it might not correctly identify all the control devices on the various buses. You might need to do that kind of snooping, to try to understand how fan control is done on your machine. http://www.almico.com/speedfan452.exe Paul |

Unfortunately, when I click Download the screen blinks but nothing happens. I'll hunt for it in other places. I tried over on archive.org and got this. https://web.archive.org/web/20170720...peedfan452.exe Paul |
