Dump (?) USB Flash drive question

I'm getting tired of waiting for 1903. I have gone through all the reasons Microsoft has for holding back, and none of them apply to me, except that I have a USB dongle for my Logitech mouse. My question is: if I use the Microsoft manual download program to download to a Flash drive, and then later delete the upgrade file, will the drive stll be bootable? I got a good deal on a 512gb Flash drive, and I'm thinking I would like to make a bootable copy of my system ssd, so that if anything goes wrong I can boot from that long enough to restore a Macrim image. Please tell me-nicely-if it's doable, and,if so, if I'm an idiot for wanting to do it. 1) margins are so thin in this industry that there is no such thing as a deal. So your flash drive may go foo bar on you. "Deals" means they are trying to rib themselves of marginal/bad inventory 2) you have to run the make utility to get the download on to your flash drive 3) once you are done with it, you can indeed reclaim your flash drive, providing it hasn't gone foo bar. 4) if the Windows device manager won't let you do it, you can have at it with aplomb from a Linux Live USB with gparted. (Ping me on a new eMail on the subject line for directions.) βHe who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.β β Mark Twain I am the king of stupid questions! |
