You can set up Mojave in a VM, or so it's claimed. There is much talk of serial numbers. Maybe if the VM was available as an appliance .ova, you could get it running on a PC for debug. https://github.com/myspaghetti/macos-guest-virtualbox Â* Paul Apple relented and is allowing MacOS to be installed as a VM on regular, not Apple, hardware now? |

Even if they chase away efforts like that, there will still be torrent versions. Apple would have to continue to enforce their intellectual property rights. Maybe they act, based on complaints or something. The sites hosting those files, will also play their part in cutting off bandwidth. As those downloads are pretty big. Paul |

Â*Â* Paul There are site out in the www that you can rent a Mac if you need to learn something. Far cheaper than buying a weird, over priced Mac. I hate Mac's artsy-fartsy keyboard from hell with a passion. Then again, I know how to type. Hi Skool typing class: the most useful class I took in Publik Hi Skool. That and my classical piano training and keyboard scream when they see me coming. Not a Piano! Not a Piano! Folks in my younger years use to remark at the noise I created when typing. Have not played the piano since I was 17. I adore my Unicomp keyboard. Just like an IBM Selectric. |

I was intrigued when I read about this, so I'm trying it in VirtualBox on my Linux system. Thanks to Paul for the link. When it comes to the hardware parameters (UUID, etc.) it needs to connect to the Apple ecosystem, I think I should be able to use the values from my retired Mac Mini, which I never run anymore. Does that sound viable? -- -v |

Does that sound viable? I haven't tried to get the files yet. The first attempt at the Google Drive files yielded the expected "bandwidth exceeded" error and I stopped there. If the recipe asks for that kind of info then sure, your Mac Mini might be used for any collateral materials needed. It was hard enough doing these with PearPC and SheepShaver. Expect to have to do some work to finish such a project. Paul |

Expect to have to do some work to finish such a project. I have it up and running. Had to expand the target vdi virtual size to 30GB, the default 22GB seemed to have run out. Tried signing in with apple id, didn't work. Tried adding an apple id with the macOS iCloud interface, and it said, "this mac can't create any more apple ids", or words to that effect. So I'll have to set it to a unique signature, just as it says on the tin... -- -v |

I can't type on that damned aluminum keyboard either. Regular Windows keyboards and mice do work, but I suspect if you want all the features you could get with the aluminum keyboard you will need some drivers to be able to get all the features because of some differences. Physically, the most noticeable difference to me is the Windows keyboard has 12 function keys, the aluminum Mac keyboard has 19. As for me, I use an old white Apple Pro keyboard with 16 function keys. And a very old Gateway branded trackball mouse plugged into the keyboard. -- Ken MacOS 10.14.5 Firefox 67.0.4 Thunderbird 60.7 "My brain is like lightning, a quick flash and it's gone!" |

Rare or not, the extra function keys are there, so quality dictates that they be made available to the purchaser. And I've see keyboards on the shelf that say they have Mac drivers. -- Ken MacOS 10.14.5 Firefox 67.0.4 Thunderbird 60.7 "My brain is like lightning, a quick flash and it's gone!" |

Geez. no, you said that the non-apple keyboards had *fewer* keys, yet had drivers.
